GreenTech Tour
Minister Neubaur visits start-ups for sustainable technologies in Aachen
Mona Neubaur, NRW Minister of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Action and Energy, stops in Aachen on her GreenTech Tour through NRW.
Together with a delegation from the MWIKE, Deputy Minister-President Mona Neubaur was exploring cutting-edge green technologies developed in North Rhine-Wesphalia. At their stop in Aachen, the delegation met eight start-ups and student initiatives illustrating the driving force of research-based green technologies in the sustainable energy and mobility transition.
The agenda included a brief introduction to the innovation potential and entrepreneurial spirit of the RWTH ecosystem, eye-opening pitches by our RWTH start-ups and student initiatives, lively discussions with the Minister, and a hands-on prototype exhibition in our workshop area.
The action-packed day demonstrated how RWTH Aachen University's active approach to translating excellent research and deeptech into disruptive start-ups can create a real impact on society. Fueled by the support of the Exzellenz Start-up Center.NRW (#ESCNRW) initiative of the MWIKE, Aachen is turning into a Battery Valley and Mobility Hub.
With SAFION GmbH, Voltfang, ACCURE Battery Intelligence and cylib, the Aachen start-up ecosystem is home to four innovative start-ups specializing in different phases of the battery life cycle. The solutions for quality check, monitoring, second-life application and finally recycling strongly interlock and thus create a circular battery economy "made in Aachen".
Aachen also plays a pioneering role in the field of sustainable mobility. The solutions developed by the student initiatives Sonnenwagen Aachen e.V. and Ecogenium and the RWTH start-ups 4traffic SET GmbH and Urban Ray and range from solar- and hydrogen-powered vehicles to technologies for digitizing urban road traffic and logistics solutions by air.
A big thank you to Mona Neubaur, Christian Dinnus, Johannes Velling, Katja Morawitz and Josef Steffens for visiting us in Aachen, for recognizing the power of research-based start-ups and for supporting the transfer of research and technology into #InnovationWithImpact.
