Inauguration of BMW Chair
Bridging the gap between excellent fundamental research and practical application of quantum computing
Automotive manufacturer BMW Group and RWTH Aachen University have launched the endowed Chair of Quantum Information Systems in order to pave the way for quantum computing to become a viable and usable technology that creates a lasting impact on industry and society. In an inauguration ceremony, the strategic partners celebrated the appointment of Prof. Dominique Unruh, who will head the new RWTH chair funded by the BMW Group.
The inauguration of the endowed chair marks the start of a new chapter in the fruitful collaboration between industry and research. RWTH Aachen University and the BMW Group have been strategic partners since 2017. The cooperation is intended to foster an intensive exchange on all levels. Both researchers and young academic talents at RWTH Aachen University work closely together with the development departments of the BMW Group. The BMW Group, in turn, provides students with practical information on a variety of topics and requirements from industry.
