Three groundbreaking RWTH technologies were awarded
Together with RWTH Aachen University we recognize state-of-the-art technological innovations with substantial market potential via the annual RWTH Innovation Award. The award aims to bridge the gap between scientific research and industry by translating innovative findings into practical applications. This year, our jury found that three teams deserved the award because all three technologies showed a lot of innovation potential.
With Industrial CO2 storage for the production of valuable building materials the team Co-reactive turns CO2 into a useful carbon-negative material. Co-reactive addresses the challenge of reducing industrial CO2 emissions by developing an innovative technology that captures and stores CO2 for the production of valuable building materials.Utilizing magnesium silicate Olivin, the process creates a sustainable substitute for the cement industry, contributing to the industry's decarbonization goals and offering a solution for Carbon Capture, Utilization & Storage (CCUS). The team OSPHIM developed a Platform for autonomous process data acquisition and optimization based on artificial intelligence. OSPHIM is an AI-based platform for autonomously optimizing injection molding processes in the plastics industry. Using transfer learning, it addresses challenges in material behavior, batch variations, and the demand for efficiency. The platform provides a modular and user-friendly solution, bridging gaps in connectivity and data collection for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). OSPHIM's data-driven methods enhance production processes, reduce downtime, minimize scrap rates, and increase production flexibility. One more award went to the team NILE Tech and their innovation RISC-V Instruction Set Explorer (RISE). The RISC-V Instruction Set Explorer (RISE) is an innovative tool designed to simplify and expedite the adoption of RISC-V, an open and license-free processor standard. RISE automates the evaluation of different RISC-V versions, helping users identify the optimal configuration for their applications. With a user-friendly interface and integrated simulator, RISE streamlines the transition process, allowing developers and companies to efficiently migrate from established architectures like x86 and ARM to RISC-V.
