Spin-off Award 2024 - Round 2
Five outstanding start-ups honored with the Spin-off Award 2024
At the Demo Day of our RWTH Incubation Program, the second round of start-ups with roots in RWTH Aachen Unviersity were presented with the RWTH Spin-off Award. As the only official award for outstanding spin-offs from the university, the Spin-off Award is a quality label for the winning teams, allowing them to promote their business with reference to its scientific origins in RWTH Aachen University. The label has supported past winners in gaining credibility among investors and attracting new customers. At the same time, the successful teams serve as role models for future entrepreneurs and ambassadors for the technology and innovation location Aachen.
The second set of winners of the Spin-off Award 2024 represent the wide range of excellent research disciplines at RWTH Aachen University. We are proud to have such a strong and diverse field of start-ups represent the RWTH start-up ecosystem far beyond its borders. Congratulations to the winners and all the best for your future endeavors!
- CruiseLaw: Assisting consumers in obtaining their rights: CruiseLaw provides travelerswhose cruise trips were not provided by the tour operator in accordance with the contract with an effective, simple and initially free way to check their claims against tour operators within a few minutes. The app-based tool helps structurally disadvantaged travelers to compensate for the immanent imbalance between large, multinational shipping companies or tour operators and small consumers.
- Fenjax: Pioneering the efficient management of patients and hospital resources: Fenjax offers real-time asset tracking based on modern ultra-wideband (UWB) technology to determine the position of devices, aids, materials and patients. With the help small transmitters (tags) attached to the assets, search times for devices can be reduced, avoiding OR idle times and preventing device loss.
- Greenlyte Carbon Technologies: Transforming the climate crisis through groundbreaking Direct-Air Capture (DAC) technology: By simultaneously capturing CO2 and producing green hydrogen, Greenlyte significantly lowers the costs of CO2 and hydrogen utilization. This breakthrough enables cost-effective green fuel production and large-scale negative emissions.
- Vivalyx: Solving the global organ shortage: Vivalyx introduces the first solution to make perfusion at body temperature scalable. Organ shortage costs millions of lives and billions of dollars and is solvable by perfusing organs at body temperature, a method clinically proven but hardly scalable due to reliance on rare donor blood and its extreme costs. The Vivalyx technology enhances efficacy, is fully synthetic – eliminating blood-related concerns –, and cuts costs.
- volatile: Navigating an increasingly complex energy system: volatile develops Software as a Service (SaaS) applications for energy data platforms and energy system analyses, combining automation and artificial intelligence with state-of-the-art methods from energy system analysis research. The volatile Data Hub provides customers from the energy sector, energy-intensive industry and energy consulting with an energy data platform on historical and future developments in the energy system.
The application phase for the first round of the Spin-off Award 2025 will start in spring next year.
