As the central co-innovation platform of RWTH Aachen University, Uniklinik RWTH Aachen and FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences, the Collective Incubator offers young innovators and startups a place to turn their ideas into reality. The space includes flex desks, lecture halls and meeting rooms for collaborating on new projects. With over 4,000 square meters of space, it also has an event space, a film studio, a sound studio, and much more. For the development of new technological innovations, the Collective Incubator offers workshop facilities for the processing of metal, plastic, wood, textile, electronics and 3D printing. In addition to that, the Collective Incubator also features a number of offices for upcoming startups to work on their businesses.

Problem & Solution:
Distribution grid operators are under massive pressure to scale infrastructure for electrification, while still operating on fragmented legacy IT landscapes. Critical data is spread across disconnected systems, and planning as well as operational decisions rely heavily on manual consolidation. This makes grid expansion slow, reactive, and increasingly unable to keep pace with the energy transition.
inframind addresses this by building a unified data foundation for energy infrastructure. Our platform connects, structures, and contextualizes fragmented grid data into a single operational layer. On top of this foundation, we enable AI to generate system-wide insights, automate workflows, and support decision-making across planning and operations. Instead of replacing existing systems, we create a synchronised backbone that makes AI reliable and actionable in real-world grid environments.
What will be your next steps during your time at the Collective Incubator? What do you aim to achieve?
During our time at the Collective Incubator, we are focused on scaling from pilot projects to standardised deployments of our operating system across multiple utilities. Our next steps include expanding our platform across additional use cases, converting pilots into recurring SaaS contracts, and strengthening our team. Ultimately, we aim to establish inframind as the core infrastructure layer enabling AI-driven operations in modern energy grids.
