BMW Group endowed chair
for “Quantum Information Systems” at RWTH
An important milestone in industry-science collaboration with impact
Automotive manufacturer BMW Group supports the establishment of an endowed professorship at RWTH Aachen University. The novel chair marks the start of a new chapter in the fruitful collaboration between industry and research.
RWTH Aachen University and the BMW Group have been strategic partners since 2017. The cooperation is intended to foster an intensive exchange on all levels. Both researchers and young academic talents at RWTH Aachen University work closely together with the development departments of the BMW Group. The BMW Group, in turn, provides students with practical information on a variety of topics and requirements from industry, for example in the biannual Techathon.
In June of this year, BMW Group and RWTH Aachen University met in Munich for an interactive exchange on innovation in mobility. At the BMW RWTH Aachen Technology Day 2021, they discussed existing links, determined shared goals, and identified potential starting points for further cooperation. Its highly interdisciplinary and international network, its broad base of start-ups in deep tech and mobility, and its good relations to mutual strategic partners make RWTH Aachen University one of BMW Group’s six strategic university partners worldwide for collaborating, exchanging technologies, and transferring innovation.
The new chair for Quantum Information Systems is proof of the partners’ commitment to this successful cooperation and their shared ambition to learn from each other, research together, and innovate as partners.
We are looking forward to continuing the Key Account Management of the strategic collaboration between BMW Group and RWTH, connecting pioneers from industry and research, and driving innovation forward!
