MindSphere Lounge opening at RWTH
Pioneers of IoT: MindSphere Lounge at RWTH Aachen University
Through the panes of the all-glass atrium, the 80 invited guests could glance into the buzz of the neighboring research laboratories – filled with whirring 3D printers and an e-car charger prototype. But no one needed to set their foot into the labs to learn what was going on – because the colorful MindSphere dashboards directly in front of the audience showed every detail of their operation: The magic of the Internet of Things could be felt strongly on this opening day of the Siemens MindSphere Lounge at RWTH Aachen University.
Filled with the latest technology, the Lounge is a modern co-working space which Siemens and RWTH will not only use for collaborative research, but also for the fostering of new talents and global networking with customers and the MINe network. Housed in the Manufacturing Center of Excellence of Thomas Neuenhahn (PG) and realized by a cross-divisional team involving PG, DF MC/FA, Siemens’ Aachen branch office and the CKI, this new highlight of Aachen’s digital ecosystem was a truly collaborative effort from day one. And glancing at the MindSphere-connected charger in his hand, RWTH chancellor Manfred Nettekoven rightly remarked: “In an increasingly digital world, such collaborations are essential for industry, science, and the competition for talents.”
