RWTH scores top placements in several start-up rankings
RWTH ranks first in three nationwide surveys and was once again named one of the most active start-up hubs, confirming its leading role in the German start-up ecosystem. Learn more about the rankings below.
German Startup Monitor 2022 (Deutscher Startup Monitor)
As in the previous year, RWTH Aachen University is the university with the most DSM founders (6.4%) and was even able to further increase the share in comparison to 2021 (DSM 2021: 5.3%). The highest degrees of the study participants were taken into account here.
Out of the founders of the Top 50 Start-ups in 2021, 17 studied at RWTH Aachen University, which means first place in the ranking. Aachen also performs well in the city ranking of Top 50 Start-ups. Of the top 50 start-ups from 2017 to 2021, eleven came from Aachen. Only the metropolitan areas of Berlin (41), Munich (38) and Hamburg (17) had more Top 50 start-ups during this period.
Most of the founders who completed an exit (sale of their company) in 2021 studied at RWTH Aachen University. Out of a total of 313 young entrepreneurs, RWTH produces the most founders in the Exit Monitor 2021 with 5.4 percent.
